BIG WELLBEING DEBATE

This event was one in a series of ten themed election hustings events held around Scotland.

The entertainment went down a storm and the thought provoking discussions resulted in the politicians and audience members resolving to build on communication links established on the night.

Perhaps the hardest hitting point of the night,  was a request for us all to think about the contrasting public and media reactions to the hair loss of international figures Kylie Minogue and Britney Spears - one, the result of Cancer the other, due to mental health difficulties.

Other topics included the role of The Arts in promoting wellbeing, funding support for voluntary organisations and community groups, health promotion, the priority given (or not given) to mental health, availability of transport and the politicians sharing their humanity by telling us all what two things they felt could promote their own wellbeing.

Wellbeing is the ability of people to be as well as they can be, whether living with, recovering from, or seeking to prevent, ill health.
